Parting stop is a component in a double-hung window assembly. This narrow strip is placed vertically along the inside of the window frame, between the upper and lower sashes.
Parting stop creates separate tracks for the upper and lower sashes, ensuring they move independently and smoothly. It also helps form a seal between the sashes and the frame, reducing drafts and improving energy efficiency, and it keeps the sashes aligned within the frame.
Parting stop is typically installed in the middle of the window frame, set into a groove between the upper and lower sash channels. It is usually nailed or screwed into the frame.
Amerhart sources door and window trim from the finest millwork manufacturers, including Alexandria Moulding, Arauco, and Millpar.
